Swear Off Acne For Good With AviClear™
Acne: it truly is a four-letter word. But it doesn't have to lord over your life. We're not talking about smothering your skin with creams and chemicals, and we're not recommending you pick and pop your pimples. We're talking about a revolutionary approach to fighting against acne.
Dr. Chinyere Orafu and our team at Ohio Laser & Wellness Centers are proud to bring our patients a brand new way to take back their skin — AviClear™. Here, we dive into how it works and what you can expect.
Why do I have acne?
Your skin is covered in hair follicles and pores, which create tiny holes or openings in your skin. You get acne when those openings become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne looks different for everyone. Depending on the severity of your acne, you may have the following symptoms:
- Whiteheads
- Blackheads
- Small red, tender bumps
- Pimples with pus at the tips
- Large, solid, painful lumps under your skin (nodules)
- Painful, pus-filled lumps under your skin (cystic lesions)
Acne can appear anywhere on your face and even radiate to your chest, upper back, and shoulders.
Four main factors cause acne: excess oil (sebum) production, clogged follicles, bacteria, and inflammation. It can get worse if you experience regular hormonal changes, eat a carb-heavy diet, take certain medications, and/or struggle with stress. Family history, friction and pressure on your skin, and greasy or oily substances can also contribute to acne.
It's a myth that acne only impacts teenyboppers — acne doesn't discriminate and can stick around long after you've left your pubescent stages.
Having acne isn't a threat to your health, but it can permanently alter the texture and tone of your skin if it's severe or you've picked at it and caused scarring.
For some, a solid skin care regimen is enough to keep the pimples at bay, but self-care remedies don't work for others, and they need something more that goes below the surface.
How does AviClear work?
AviClear is the first and only FDA-approved energy device to treat mild to severe acne. It's the only acne treatment that eliminates acne at the source. It delivers laser light deep into your skin, suppresses sebaceous glands, and prevents acne from forming.
Other acne treatments fall short because they target other things that cause acne. AviClear is different because it halts the production of oil and, as a result, keeps your skin clear.
What should I expect from treatment?
Does it sound too good to be effective and convenient? Think again. AviClear treatments are fast (around 30 minutes); depending on your specific situations, you should only need three sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
AviClear is a very comfortable treatment. You may notice a slight snapping sensation, but most tolerate it well. AviClear also comes equipped with AviCool™, a skin cooling and sensory control technology that maintains your skin's temperature during treatment for a more comfortable experience.
When will I see the results?
Results from AviClear treatments aren't immediate. Most people will see an improvement 4 to 6 weeks following the first treatment. Extensive studies show that the best results are obtained when a series of three treatments are done, 4 to 6 weeks apart. Eighty-seven percent and upwards of patients treated with AviClear saw at least half of their acne resolve within six months of treatment. Results usually continue to improve with more time. With AviClear, you can expect to see clearer skin for the long haul.
What else can I do to clear my skin?
There's no substitute for AviClear, but that doesn't mean you can't take part in keeping your skin clear. We recommend that you follow these practical skin care strategies to maximize your AviClear treatment:
- Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser
- Avoid harsh chemicals and irritants
- Protect your skin from the sun
- Avoid friction and pressure on your skin
- Refrain from touching your skin or picking at pimples
- Shower after you sweat
