The Magical Effects of Tixel® Skin Resurfacing
Your skin is one of the first things people notice about you — What’s it saying? You’re missing out on the best that life offers if your skin isn’t giving off a confident, youthful vibe.
Feeling comfortable in your skin often starts with having young, healthy-looking skin but dealing with wrinkles, discoloration, and other problems that can crop up is tough to do all by yourself, especially when you feel you’ve tried everything.
Dr. Chinyere Orafu and our team at Ohio Laser & Wellness Centers are excited to offer patients a safe, fast, and effective way to rejuvenate their skin.
Here’s everything you should know about our newest aesthetic treatment: Tixel®.
The basics of Tixel Skin Resurfacing
First, let’s get to know Tixel and what it can do for you.
Tixel is an advanced, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that helps you fight the signs of aging, improve your skin tone and texture, and give you a more radiant and youthful appearance. You might compare the results of Tixel treatments to deep chemical peels and laser treatments without downtime, pain, and recovery.
We recommend Tixel treatments to any of our patients who want smoother, younger-looking skin — and want it without waiting.
We use Tixel to treat a wide range of skin issues, including:
- Pores
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Active acne
- Acne scars
- Lip lines
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet
Are you troubled by sagging eyelids? Tixel is gentle enough to tighten the fragile skin of your lower and upper eyelids. Tixel is also an option if you struggle with rosacea, redness, and uneven skin pigmentation, including tough-to-treat melasma.
So, how does it work?
Tixel uses thermo-mechanical ablative (TMA) technology rather than chemicals, lasers, and other invasive methods. Essentially, Tixel harnesses and delivers heat energy to your skin to rejuvenate and revive it.
The titanium pyramid tips of the Tixel system need only touch a small area of your skin, so we have more control over your treatments.
Once we activate Tixel, a uniform spherical heatwave briefly radiates outward and downward into your skin. This process stimulates collagen production, effectively reducing (and sometimes eliminating) signs of aging, scarring, damage, and discoloration. With more collagen, your skin is tighter, firmer and looks and feels like it did when you were younger.
Why Tixel?
Tixel isn’t the first to boast powerful skin rejuvenation capabilities, but it is the first to deliver on its promises and then some. Benefits of Tixel include:
- Fast results and fast treatments
- Virtually painless treatments, often with minimal-to-no topical numbing
- Thermal-mechanical technology - the first and only technology available for skin resurfacing
- Minimal social downtime
- No lasers or needles
- Safe to use on all skin types
- Safe to use on delicate facial skin
Tixel goes where other treatments can’t and does it all with less harm to your skin and in a fraction of the time.
Before, during, and after
Before your Tixel treatment, we discuss your treatment goals and expectations. We also walk you through how to care for your skin before you arrive.
During the process, we carefully apply the Tixel machine to the areas where you want treatment. We can control every aspect of your treatment in real-time to give you the best results and keep you completely comfortable.
Once the treatment is complete, there are a few things you can expect:
- A warm feeling for a few hours, as if you were out in the sun
- Small scabbing
- Redness for a few days
Any side effects you experience should be mild and only last a few days. We recommend you apply a gentle moisturizer and sunscreen to the treatment area to protect it and help it heal.
You should notice results shortly after your first treatment, but the best results develop over a few weeks. Depending on your needs, we may recommend that you have a series of treatments.
